Top Tips For Working From Home
Top tips for working from home.
With many of us finding ourselves suddenly working from home, when perhaps we’ve never had to do so before, here are a few tips on staying productive…
1. START AS YOU MEAN TO GO ON
It’s harder to get out of bed when you don’t have a train to catch. Obviously, you can set your alarm a little later to take into account the time you would have spent travelling, but try and be at your desk at the same time you would have been had you been going into the office.
2. DRESS FOR SUCCESS
It can be tempting to slouch around in your PJs all day but getting dressed as usual will make you feel more awake and get you in the right mindset for the day ahead.
3. CREATE YOUR WORKSPACE
No one works well sitting on their sofa with their laptop on their knee and the TV on. If you don’t already have a defined space to work, such as a spare room or study, you may need to re-purpose your kitchen table.
3. BE ORGANISED
Set yourself objectives and you are more likely to stay focused. Refreshed from your extra hour of sleep, use the morning to work through projects which require more concentration than others so the afternoon can be spent on lighter tasks.
4. KEEP IN TOUCH
How can one not feel isolated in self-isolation? Reach out to colleagues who are similarly housebound. If you don’t already have one, establish a team WhatsApp group to keep in touch.
5. TAKE A BREAK
Breaks are just as important working from home as they are when you are in office, perhaps more so. It is very unlikely that your home desk set up is ergonomically designed to help your posture while you work so it is important you get up regularly and try and get some fresh air at lunchtime, as you would if you were in the office.
According to extensive research, we are more productive if we exercise during the workday. Don’t just step outside for 10 minutes at lunch, actually do for a walk or even a run, both with result in manifold benefits. Exercise increases blood flow which oxygenates your brain, re-energising you to power through afternoon ahead. Your eyes will appreciate the screen break too.
7. HOME TIME
Don’t forget to switch off at the end of the day. Everyone needs some downtime at the end of the day for a healthy work-life balance. Lines can sometimes become blurred when working from home. Know when to call it a day, shut down your home office for the night and go binge some box sets, you’ve earned it.
In these uncertain times, BE Offices, along with many other providers, are offering clients the option to work from home having implemented a telephone system that is IP-based and allows fluid migration to any internet-based docking. Clients can plug in their desk handset at home and receive calls as they would in the office on their same work telephone number.
BE Offices also offer mobile twinning so client’s landline calls also ring on their mobile and call forwarding to a number of their choice. If a client requires access to their network remotely we can also assist.
